General Description
Work with the Executive Director to develop, implement and manage fundraising and public relations activities based on identified funding priorities for Food For Thought. Primary responsibilities include donor recruitment and cultivation, special events planning and implementation, coordination of volunteers for fundraising activities and public relations and marketing.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; extensive fundraising experience; excellent writing, communication and organizational skills; database, word processing and spreadsheet skills; ability to work independently.
Desired skills and experience include desktop publishing and graphic design, website design and implementation, AIDS/HIV community-based work, sensitivity to cultural and ethnic minorities and fluency in Spanish.
Job Duties
Donor Recruitment and Cultivation – plan and implement fundraising activities including direct mail, major donor gifts and sponsorships, annual giving, email solicitation and other similar methods. Create and implement donor clubs for annual gifts, major donors and legacy gifts. Enhance activities that identify and cultivate effective relationships with prospective donors. Foster positive and continuing relationships with existing donors.
Special Events Planning and Implementation – coordinate all aspects of Dining Out for Life and the Food For Thought auction. Assist with planning for the Home and Garden Tour and Calabash. Work with the Fundraising Committee to evaluate existing events and adopt new events if needed. Identify and recruit sponsors for events. Provide support and serve as agency liaison for third party fundraising events.
Development Volunteer Coordination – oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers for development activities. Organize and manage special fundraising groups.
Public Relations and Marketing – oversee public relations, and marketing activities for the entire agency, including informational and promotional materials for use in solicitation of donations. Develop media contacts and assist with public education efforts.
Administration – oversee tracking of individual and corporate gifts, supervise and track acknowledgement of all donations, prepare fundraising budgets and reports, manage donor database, assist in Board training and direction and provide input for the agency newsletter.
Staff Participation – promote teamwork to foster goodwill among staff, volunteers, clients and the public. Assist other staff members with food bank operations as needed. Attend staff meetings and other functions when requested. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Salary Range
$45,000 – 50,000 annually plus excellent benefits

Essential Functions: Founded in 1990, Mama’s Kitchen is supported by the San Diego community. Over 70% of funding is generated from non-governmental sources. The Director of Development works closely with the Executive Director and the Board to grow and implement a highly successful and fully developed fundraising plan, which includes:
• Increasing support from individuals through annual giving;
• Implementing direct mail program;
• Implementing major gifts program;
• Implementing planned giving program; and
• Increasing corporate, foundation and government funding sources.
This position works closely with and forms part of our management team that includes the executive director, the special events & marketing manager, the executive chef and the volunteer manager. This position works under the supervision of the executive director, supervises the grants specialist position, and is supported by the data systems specialist.
Compensation is commensurate with experience. Benefits include vacation, sick time, health, dental and life insurance, and 401k plan with contributions matched up to 3 percent of contributions.

Job Description
Lifelong AIDS Alliance is a non-profit community agency committed to preventing the spread of HIV, providing practical support services and advocating for those whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS.
Chicken Soup Brigade (CSB), Lifelong’s food program, provides meals, groceries, and nutritional counseling to people living with HIV/AIDS and other life threatening illnesses. It is intended as a supplementary food program. It is important that food program staff be familiar with and sensitive to issues facing people living with HIV/AIDS and other life threatening illnesses.
Definition:
Reporting to the Director of Nutrition Services, and working in collaboration with other Chicken Soup Brigade supervisors and community partners, the primary role of the Executive Chef is to grow and establish Chicken Soup Brigade’s meal program as the region’s premiere supplier of frozen prepared meals catering to diverse medical and cultural needs. To achieve this goal, the Executive Chef leads a team of kitchen staff in the planning and production of weekly menus of frozen meals to be delivered throughout the Pacific Northwest. This is a full-time, exempt, non-union, regular position.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Supervise all food production efforts for Chicken Soup Brigade’s meal program—ordering, prep, cooking, packaging, quality control, food safety, etc.
2. In consultation with dietitians, develop menus for all meals including regular menu items, special diets, catering, and nightly service to the Lyon Building.
3. Responsible for training, supervision and evaluation of kitchen staff and volunteers.
4. Track production numbers for reports to funders and for sharing with other Lifelong departments as needed.
5. Oversee the budget and product purchasing for the meal program, and assist with other ordering as needed.
6. Work with other CSB staff to establish and maintain health and food safety standards.
7. Lead and supervise catering efforts that may include meetings, fundraising events, and volunteer appreciation events.
8. In the event of an emergency, be a contact for programmatic issues (such as emergency refrigeration failure) during off-hours.
9. Perform all duties of position, and other duties as assigned.
Organizational Core Responsibilities:

• Participate in management team meetings as appropriate.

• Knowledgeable about the progression and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

• Maintain confidentiality of financial, donor and client records.
Qualifications:
• Culinary Degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in a leadership role at a high-volume institutional food production facility.
• Experience with preparation of meals for medically appropriate diets preferred.
• Demonstrated success supervising professional staff.
• Able to organize, prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
• Experience with project planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Possess an understanding of professional boundaries.
• Demonstrated skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel, Access and Word.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form.
• Comfort with public speaking and public outreach.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Experience with group facilitation, conflict resolution and a working knowledge of organizational development issues.
• Ability to respond quickly to change.
• Ability to represent the program and the organization to diverse audiences, and develop good working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
• Valid Washington State Food Handlers Permit and thorough knowledge of food safety practices.
• Valid WDL and a good driving record required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and walk up one flight of stairs.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that will include evenings and weekends.
